SPOILERS! Spiderman: No Way Home Swings It’s Way Into Theaters

Marvel fans were thrilled at the nostalgia presented in the new film, Spider-Man: No Way Home (NWH), which premiered in theaters December 17, 2021 and quickly became Sony’s top grossing film of all time. Spider-Man: NWH is the third Spider-Man movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) following 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. This movie, however, brought entirely new elements to the world of Spider-Man, pulling in villains from previous Spider-Man movies like Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider Man. This was the first time a crossover like this has happened in the MCU, so naturally fans were jumping at the chance to buy tickets as soon as the trailers dropped.

It was no surprise that Spider-Man: NWH was quick to break so many records. Fans were buzzing the second it’s first trailer came out, showing the arrival of Spider-Man 2’s Doc Ock and The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s Electro following the fissure in the multiverse. The film garnered $385.8 million in 7 days and became the third quickest Marvel film to reach $1 billion after Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War. It was filled with incredible cameos, bringing back actors from the original Spider-Man that many fans grew up with as well as those from The Amazing Spider-Man. They did not stop just at the villains, however. Marvel took everyone by surprise and brought in the first two Peter Parkers, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Together, all three Spider-Men worked together with perfect synergy in order to defeat all antagonists.

Many EHHS students were roaring after the movie’s release. A few said that it was difficult to find tickets due to the film’s popularity, even buying tickets weeks in advance, while others said they were lucky enough to find good seats in time. A fan favorite character was Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker alongside the other two Peters, and a few said the Green Goblin as well. In a poll conducted by The Comet, the general consensus was that the scene where all three of the Spider-Men fought and worked together was the most memorable of the all around phenomenal movie. Jasmine Nguyen says, “I would love to see more interaction between Spider-Man and other characters in the MCU. I think it is always so fun and interesting to see how they interact and work together.” Many agreed that although the emotional end of the movie was not what the audience was hoping for, it definitely leaves them excited for what’s to come and allows infinite opportunities with the multiverse. As a bonus, poll-takers were asked who their favorite Spider-Man is and 40.6% said Andrew Garfield, 31.3% said Tobey Maguire, and the other 28.1% said Tom Holland. Marvel fans all over the world can’t wait to see what the future of Spider-Man holds.
