Marvel: A ‘Super’ Movie Franchise

Marvel Studios is an American film and television studio that produce movies. Marvel was created in the year 1939. Marvel was also created in the city of New York. Marvel was created by an American publisher named “Martin Goodman.” Marvel currently has twenty-three movies released. Marvel is best known for its superhero movie franchise The Avengers. The Avengers are a band of superheroes who fight villains from all over the world from bank robbers to intergalactic aliens to protect the planet earth and its people. The Avengers consist of superheroes like Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, etc.

Marvel has five movies that really stand out in comparison to the other movies in the franchise. One of the top five Marvel movies is Captain America: Civil War. The movie is about the members of the Avengers whose actions cause collateral damage in a mission they were on, causing massive injuries and deaths. They get confronted with a status quo that divides the team members. The Avengers must choose to side with Captain America or Iron Man. Captain America believes that superheroes should be free without government interference. Iron Man strongly disagrees and prefers oversight by the government. The debate escalates into an all-out feud, leaving the Avengers team members to pick a side. Another notable Marvel movie is Avengers: Age Of Ultron. This movie tells the story of Iron Man’s try at a peacekeeping program that goes terribly wrong, forcing him to reassemble the Avengers. The team is put to the ultimate test as they battle Ultron, a technological terror created by iron man who wishes human extinction. The third movie is Guardians Of The Galaxy, which is about a space adventurer named Star-Lord who steals an orb from a powerful villain named “Ronan”. To evade Ronan, Star-lord is forced to form a team. Star-lord’s team consisted of five members including himself. The members of the team where, Star-lord himself, Drax, Gamora, Groot, and Rocket Raccoon. They find out the cosmic threat the orb he stole poses, so they fight together and try to stop Ronan and protect the galaxy. The fourth movie is Avengers: Infinity War. This movie entails the Avengers reassembling to fight their most powerful enemy yet: Thanos. He is on a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, which are six gems that wield immense power that can be used to even wipe out the galaxy if wished by the user. Thanos wishes to use the stones to wipe out humanity and “ bring balance to the galaxy.” The fate of the planet has never been more uncertain as the Avengers clash with Thanos and his army. Last but not least, the fifth and final Marvel movie on my Top Five list is Avengers: End Game. The Avengers must figure out a way to bring back their vanquished allies in order to have one final showdown against the infamous Thanos and his army for the fate of the earth and the galaxy.

Brian Gonzalez believes, “Their production level is amazing to look at because of the rate they release their movies.” Brian Gonzalez also shared, “ [I prefer] Avengers: End Game because it summed up what happened in the Marvel Universe.” He continued, “Marvel is a pretty good franchise because of the fan base it was able to drag in and entertain at its peak.”

Senior, Giacomo “Jack” Izzo, also shares his thoughts and says, “Thor: Ragnarok [is my favorite] because he was always my favorite superhero and it has a lot of action in it.” Jack also shares that, “ They have a lot of characters and movies dedicated to the character and it never gets boring watching them.”

Ethan Kowalczik states, “[I prefer] Guardians Of The Galaxy because of how much sci-fi it had and fighting the huge monsters looks fun and cool”. He continued, “The franchise is very successful. They touch on every character they have not only one.”

Marvel is one of the best, if not the best, movie-making company to ever exist and more and more people agree and seem to be joining the hype train around the company and its large amount of interesting characters.
