Dear Nemo 4 March 2020
Dear Nemo, It’s been a while now and I haven’t heard back from any of my colleges and it’s making me very anxious. Is there anything I can do to make me feel more calm around this scary time?
Applying to college itself can be very stressful and chaotic. There's so many different websites to visit, online papers to fill out, financial aid, and college tours to juggle all at once. Once sending your application in there is usually a weight lifted from your shoulder, but then comes the anxiety of getting accepted. My personal way to stay calm while waiting to hear back from my college is to focus on the positive, and convince myself that I'm already going to be accepted and attend. Another method that can be used is pushing this stress of getting accepted to the back of your mind, and instead focus on finishing high school. Personally I have to juggle so many classes and so much work that I barely remember that I even applied. Many people don’t have the chance or opportunity to apply and go to college, so if you're able to apply and attend this should be an exciting time for you. Change can be scary, but this is also the beginning of a new chapter where you can restart and push yourself harder towards a successful future. -Nemo
