A Second Chance for Percy Jackson and The Olympians
Percy Jackson and the Olympians, a book series that many enjoy will be getting its second chance in the film industry by Disney+ in the near future.
Rick Riordan the author of the well known book series Percy Jackson and the Olympians announced May 14, 2020 that Disney+ will be picking up the book series for a live action TV adaptation. He posted a video announcing the big news on his website and social media platforms. Riordan explained that Disney+ is planning to have each book in the series be its own season. For example the first season would be the first book Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, a book about a young demigod named Percy Jackson who goes on a dangerous quest around America to prove his innocence to the Gods.
The Percy Jackson series had done two movies in the past, but the author Riordan and the fans believe that Disney+ is capable of doing a better job at giving the series the adaptation it deserves. In response to a fan stating that Riordan hates the films more than the fans. Riordan shared via Twitter, “Well, to you guys, it's a couple hours entertainment. To me, it's my life's work going through a meat grinder when I pleaded with them not to do it. So yeah. But it's fine. All fine. We're gonna fix it soon....” Riordan has talked about his minimal involvement in the making of the two movies and addressed fans concerns that he will be consulted on every aspect of the new tv show.
Riordan can’t say too much as the show is in its very early stages and casting won’t happen for quite some time. If you would like to be informed on the show, follow Rick Riordan on his Instagram and Twitter: @rickriordan along with looking on his website for updates.
