EHHS' First Core Values Day
East Haven High School has been trying to incorporate new ideas to bring different learning experiences to students. Core Values Day offered many classes to students some of the classes focused on mechanics, sports and even weight lifting. Some of these classes were taught by students such as weight lifting, it was taught by Jake Marquardt, Ethan Kowalczik, and Calvin Nelson.
Core Values Day overall allowed students to enjoy and try new things. Jack Izzo said “I didn’t feel like going to Core Values Day at first but it was actually pretty fun.” Core Values Day also allowed the student teachers to teach things they like to do. Jake Marqaurdt said “I wanted to teach students because I thought that it would be a fun idea, and that I could also encourage others to start lifting as well.” Ethan Kowalczik said he wanted to teach because “I wanted to teach students because I thought that it would be a fun idea, and that I could also encourage others to start lifting as well.”
The student teachers took charge when needed and made Core Values Day fun and productive. Jake Marquardt said “I accomplished my goal during my session and went over everything that I wanted to with the students that attended.”The student teaching allowed a different form of teaching to take place and see how other students would react. Jack Izzo said ”The students teaching was interesting Although, they did take charge.” Core Values Day showed how students were affected by student teaching and if EHHS should have more events such as another Core Values Day. Jake Marquardt said “I think that it should be an annual event. Core Values Day allowed students to experience new things while also having a fun day with participation from everyone involved.” Also, to go along with this Ethan Kowalczik said “I believe that Core Values Day was a great success and was fun for everyone.”
