Boys basketball team are ready to take their shot

With the fall sports seasons coming to an end, the winter sports begin their offensive. With the boys basketball season right upin their doorstep, basketball teams are in maximum gear to make sure that they are ready. Boys basketball head coach, Rick Narracci, is looking forward to putting his team to the test where they will be challenged physically as well as mentally. The Yellowjackets this year are lead by senior captains, Eddy Popolizio and Ryan Spano, two very versatile players. When asked about the basketball season, Coach Narracci said “I’m looking forward to it. It has been a good preseason so far.” The team includes 7 senior athletes, one of them being Peter Barone. This is Peter’s first year playing on the team and is still getting acquainted with playing organized basketball. Coach Narracci continued, “Peter is a player with a big body which is good to have. When talking about varsity, he could be helpful, but only if he gains confidence.” It seems like Peter has some work to do to prove himself. This season the league is looking strong with fierce opponents such as, Amity, Wilbur Cross, Notre Dame (West Haven), Guilford, Hamden, and more. Coach Narracci said he is molding the team to a “different offensive look,” which will help players to receive more more scoring opportunities. The first game this season was against Foran from Milford and their recent win against Sheehan has ensured that the team will continue to make their presence known.
