Thanksgiving Football

East Haven Yellowjackets faced the Branford Hornets in the 76th annual Thanksgiving day game. The Yellow Jackets struggled early in the game and were down 7-0 with five minutes and twenty two seconds remaining in the first quarter. The Yellow Jackets struggled offensively and only made 73 yards of offense in the game.

Branford leading, the score was 21-0 before the halftime mark. During the second half, senior, Andrew Luzzi, led the Yellow Jackets with five carries for 40 yards. Third quarter, the Branford Hornets, kicked a twenty eight yard field goal, making the score 24-0. East Haven continued to work hard defensively and offensively throughout the game. During the fourth quarter, with nine minutes and thirty seven seconds left, the Branford Hornets scored making the final score 37-0.

Unfortunately, East Haven Yellowjackets had a tough lost, each football player worked hard on the football field. East Haven Yellowjackets football coach Melvin Wells said, “Unfortunately, when you’re as young as we are, it becomes very difficult to be consistent offensively.” He continued,“Moving forward, we have a strong junior class and we had a bunch of sophomores playing this year. We think we can doing some things in the future.” I am looking forward to a great season next yea
