EHHS Marching band have been successful this 2017 school year

The marching band placed first in every competition and received the highest score in band history at the national competition. The band placed first in all regular competition last year and was placed third out of 17 bands at the national event. Out of 13 bands at the Rocky High School competition., Our band had the highest score out of all bands. This year, the band is starting the season off right with a great record of 5-0. Matt Laudano has been the East Haven High School marching band’s director for five years. He is also the school’s music teacher.

Mr. Laudano helps today's students build successes related to their school music careers, just as he has done. A marching band is a group in which Band instrumental musicians perform while marching, often for entertainment or competition. Marching bands are generally categorized by function, size, age, gender, instrumentation, marching style, and type of show they perform.

People sometimes don’t realize how hard they work. You hear about what the other athletic teams do throughout their seasons. Even though they may not wear pads and helmets, but they wear heavy uniforms and most of them carry heavy instruments. They have to practice, their music has to be memorized perfectly, and each member of the band needs to know exactly where he/she is moving all over the field which takes time to perfect. Band is where lifelong friendships begin. The bonds that hold band kids together it's hard to describe to someone who hasn't seen or experienced it. Because of everything they go through together, they become a family.

When interviewing Matt Laudano he mentioned, “ The kids are just wonderful, we are successful because we are a family . No matter what condition they're in, sick or injury they always come to practice and always work hard." Everyone works hard, especially these guys, and they should always be respected. Be strong when you are weak, be Brave when you are scared and be humble when you are victorious. I look forward to watching each of you build a “legacy” for your for our school team. As you march towards the mission, I wish for your victory. As you plunge into a deep trance of hard work. May you finish successfully. Good Luck!
